Good Grant! and Freezing Fundraiser

We’ve got some good news. The Crossville Skatepark Association was awarded a grant today of $1500.00 from Volunteer Energy Cooperative (VEC). We are very grateful and excited. We’ll be accepting the grant at 12:30 Eastern time at the VEC Corporate Office on March 13, 2006. We hope this is the start of more good things to come for this summer.

We will be meeting this Saturday, February 25th at 1pm at the gazebo next to the county court house on Main Street. We’re going to pass out brochures to local businesses and ask if they would be willing to support us. We also have about 6 new donation cans we’d like to place around town. So come on out and help us fun-raise for the skatepark this summer.

Last call for interested board members. We’ll have our first meeting in March. Contact me if you are interested.

First Meeting of 2006

Hope you’ve enjoyed a nice break this winter. We’re ready to get going on the skatepark again. Our first meeting in 2006 will be this Saturday, February 4th at 1 PM at my home (Call 484-1165 if you need directions or email me at frank [at] crossvilleskatepark.com).

It’s supposed to be about 40 degrees and snowing this Saturday, so I thought this might be a good time to do some indoor stuff. We’ll be making some cool brochures out of fake grip tape to hand out to people. If you have crayons, please bring them. This will be our next major fundraiser for the fall.

Also, we’ve applied for a $3000 VEC grant and should know something by the end of March.

We’re going to have a great temporary park this summer. Keep the hope alive,

- Frank
