News and Upcoming Skatepark Clean Up Day
Hi everyone,
Wanted to give you an update on the Crossville Skatepark and our plans for the summer. I’ve had several folks call and ask when we will officially be open.
Here are the things we’ll must to do open up for the summer:
1. Sweep the entire skatepark and clear any debris. Lots of stuff has built up over the winter.
2. Repair the set of ramps we currently have in place.
3. Put up a chain link fence around the skatepark. Our old fence blew down over the winter. I’m working with a company in Cookeville to purchase a new one.
4. Pay for the insurance for the summer.
5. Find staff to supervise the park during the summer.
Here are the things we would like to do for the summer:
1. Raise money for the skatepark
2. Add more ramps to include quarter pipes and half pipes
3. Offer classes/sessions for beginning and intermediate skaters
4. Form a skate travel team
In order to do any of these things, we need donations and funding. We’re working on 2 more grants, and have already received a $1500.00 grant from VEC.
Here’s where you can help:
1. Staff the park for a couple of hours one Saturday per month
2. Come out and help sweep/clean up the park one Saturday in May. We need someone with a truck to haul stuff to the dumpster down the street.
3. Assist with fundraising
4. Be on the skatepark board
5. Teach younger skaters how to skate
Due to the Easter weekend, we will not meet this Saturday. We will meet next Saturday, April 22 at 1pm at the park for Clean Up Day.
Thanks for all your interest and help in the Skatepark and the Association. Please contact me if you have any questions.
