Young Marines Demo

We had a great time on Saturday doing an educational demonstration with the Plateau Unicycling Club for the Young Marines of Crossville. Looks like there are quite a few cyclists, skaters and rollerbladers in the Young Marines. Special thanks to Jeremy Hall and Brent H. for putting on a great skate demo along with our guest rollerbladers. This looks to become an annual event. Hope to see everyone there next year.

Fall Skatepark Update

Good to see some old faces (Brent, Beth, Ashley, Heather, Jeremy and Eric) today at our first fall skatepark meeting. Here's what's going on:

Non-profit Status: The IRS is finishing their final review of our status request. The case supervisor said that on September 26th we'll have a final resolution. He sounded hopeful. Once we clear this hurdle, we'll go gangbusters to work with the City and obtain Federal/State grants for education, facilities and programs for skateboarding.

Fundraisers: Beth is spearheading a carwash at Kmart and Heather/Ashley fundraisers at Walmart and the high school football games. Look for dates soon.

Demo: We'll be holding an educational demo at 1pm on Saturday, September 24th at the skatepark for the Young Marines. Please come out with your helmet and skate the demo if you've already signed a waiver.

New Online Fundraising Store: We now have a new online store with tshirts, hoodies, mugs, hats, etc. with a suggested donation price. All profit from the sales of these items goes to the skatepark fund. Here's the address: http://www.cafepress.com/skatecrossville. Order away!

Future Plans: We're still in a bit of a holding pattern with the IRS status. Once that is clarified, we'll be doing some significant fundraising. Our goal will be to raise $20,000 this winter for programs, equipment and facilities until the city can provide a permanent home for skaters.

We'll meet again next Friday at 5pm at the skatepark to plan and prepare. Hope to see you there.
