What a Great Summer!

School’s starting back this week, and we wanted to say thanks for all the parents, skaters, and volunteers that have come out to the temporary park this summer. Everyone’s worked very hard, and we can be proud of what’s been accomplished in one year...a Christmas Parade, 1600 signed petitions, a temporary park, demonstrations and much more. Some of you may remember how we built the temporary park in the freezing rain and how we’ve been roasting each Saturday since skating it.

Last Saturday was our last day of the summer to have the temporary skatepark open. We don’t have enough income to cover the $279 per month insurance required to keep the park open. So, after meeting with the skatepark board on Saturday, we’re going to focus our attention this fall on fundraising, education, building new ramps, demonstrations in the local community and working with the city on the permanent park.

Is this the end of the skatepark in Crossville? No! We’re just focusing our efforts financial support and working with the city so next summer we can open earlier and keep it open longer with more ramps, quarterpipes, events, etc. We’ll need your help now more than ever to prepare and build for the spring. You’ll find us at football games, parades, events, and the like skating and raising money.

What will you do with the current park?
Even though the temporary park is closed for the fall, we will the ramps for the winter, make repairs and build new stuff for the spring. So, don’t take any ramps!

Young Marines Demo on Sept 17th from 9am to 12 pm: We’ll be holding a small demo for the Young Marines program on Sep 17th at the temporary skatepark. If you want to skate the demo, you’ll need a helmet and a signed waiver from your parent. The unicycle club will also be there with us doing a demo. Should be fun.

As always, email me if you have questions. Spead the word about the park, and be safe when you skate, blade or bike.
