Opening Day for the Temporary Park

Had a great opening day at the temporary park. Thanks to everyone who helped us get started. We're still working with the City to develop at permanent park. Come out and skate with us this summer from 12-5pm on Saturdays. We'll be building more ramps as money becomes available.

Skatepark Opening Day

Guess what? This Saturday is our first official day for the temporary skatepark to be open to the public! So come on out and skate, blade or bike and bring a friend. Park is free of charge. Donate and help keep us open. We’ll have a grand opening in June once we get our daily operations down and some additional ramps and quarterpipes built. Here are a couple of rules to be aware of when coming to the skatepark:

Summer Hours of Operation:
Open: Saturdays 12pm-5pm
Closed: Rain. Lightning. Wet surfaces. Holidays.
No hanging around after the park is closed

Park Rules:
This park was built with the help of local skaters, rollerbladers and BMX riders so respect some simple rules.

- Skate, rollerblade and bike at your own risk.
- Helmets must be worn at all times inside the park fence. No exceptions. Knee, elbow and wrist pads are optional.
- Sign in or show your membership card before entering.
- Children, 12 and under, should have parental supervision.
- Ride within your own limits and don't endanger others (don't hog ramps, and don't cut runs)
- Recklessness, horseplay, not listening to park staff or any inappropriate behavior will get you thrown out.
- No alcohol, drugs, smoking, tobacco products, litter, graffiti, tagging, vandalism, music, bullying, fighting or thieving.
- No food or drink allowed inside fenced area
- Park staff reserves the right to limit the number of people using the park to prevent overcrowding.
- Parents, friends and spectators: please watch from outside the fence.
Other news: IRS called me 4 times this week to clarify the 501C3 application. We’re still a few weeks away but I think we are on the right track. I also talked with Mayor Graham last week and he said that the City is still deliberating on the budget. If we don’t make it into the July budget then we’ll have to wait until February 2006 for the next budget. He mentioned that we are competing against soccer fields, indoor recreation facility and some other things for money. So, please send another email to his office or get your parents to call and tell him nicely that you support the City building a skatepark. Here’s the Mayor’s contact info: LET YOUR VOICE BE HEARD!
