Skatepark Build Day Photos
Many thanks to all the volunteers who came out to help with the skatepark build yesterday. They braved freezing weather, rain (which turned into a little hail at one point) and a fierce wind to build the park. We accomplished a lot. We’re almost finished with the large pyramid box and the fence. We have to finish these and get the insurance this week to be able to open the park. We’re still accepting lumber donations as we’ll need more wood to build the quarter pipes and other items.

Sweeping the surface. Lots of small rocks.

Buiding fences.

Duff in pizza heaven.

Moving a ramp.

Cody actually does some work...cleaning sludge from skate area.

Javan stuff's face with pizza.

Duff oversees the construction. Adam and Mike are working?

Lumber Drive
The Crossville Skatepark Association is having a ‘Boards for Skateboards’ lumber drive to help build a temporary skatepark at Cumberland Worship Center while we wait for the City and County funding. Please bring your new, old, used or scrap plywood sheets, partial sheets and 2x4’s and drop them off one the side of the parking lot at Cumberland Worship Center across from the VF Outlet Mall anytime from now until April 23rd. The more wood we have, the bigger and better park we can build. Call Frank McClung at 484.1171 for more information.

Planning and Building the Temporary Park
The fundraiser with Martin Elementary (see entry below) went really well. Please thank the students there if you see them...this park is for them and they did awesome. The school had almost $6100 in candle sales and after everyone got their cut plus the cost of the product, we came out with about $1000. This may not seem like much, but it helps us pay for the temporary park insurance ($125) and gives us some money to buy things we can't find or get donated to us. So, what are we going to do with that money? Build the temporary park!
We'll be meeting this Friday, April 8 at 5 pm. in the parking lot at Cumberland Worship Center across from the VF Factory Outlet mall. We'll start doing the planning and laying out of the park and how we plan on operating it until the City builds the permanent park.
On Saturday, April 23 we will be meet at the Cumberland Worship to begin building the temporary park. We'll start around 8 a.m. and work until it gets dark or we are done. There is a list of items we need folks to bring on the skatepark website here>>. If you will be responsible for keeping up with the tools you bring and operating them (if they are power tools). Everyone will need to sign a form to participate in the build. Please ask you parents if they would be willing to help.
Most importantly, we need you to bring scrap lumber that you or your friends or your businesses or your neighbors may have lying around that they can donate to the park. Please drop the lumber off at Cumberland Worship Center's parking lot (far end next to the fence) any time during the day. Tell your friends too.
Check the site for details later next week and get ready to build.
