Hurricane Design Aid

I'm not one to jump onto the latest tragedy wagon and blog, but living in the South and having traveled through New Orleans several times, I'm greatly disturbed by what I'm seeing. Not just the devastation, but the lack of real response by the Federal and State government. People are dying, and officials are just taking their sweet time to get substantial help to New Orleans.

If you don't believe me, take a few minutes and check out this powerful, first hand interview from WWL-AM with New Orleans Mayor Nagin here>>. It's about time a politician started shooting straight and Nagin sure did. You can tell he cares about the people in the city.

We've talked a lot on B L A N K about ways that design can touch the heart beyond pen and paper. To help our brothers and sisters in New Orleans restore and renew their lives after the hurricane, B-L-A-N-K.com has created some t-shirts for purchase at CafePress. All work on the t-shirts is donated pro-bono. As designers, we'll be looking specifically at ways we can allocate profits from the sale of these t-shirts to non-profit organizations that will re-establish the visual arts in New Orleans communities. If you would like to design a t-shirt for the effort, just send a 200dpi 10x10inch PNG file to frank[at]b-l-a-n-k.com. We hope you'll join us and spread the word.

B L A N K was very excited to send our first check on Feb 11 to a displaced New Orleans designer. It's not much, but it is a start of helping others through design.
